Located on the eastern tip of Nusa Penida, Diamond Beach is often described as one of the most beautiful spots in all of Indonesia. This "hidden" paradise is named after the dramatic, diamond-shaped limestone karst formations that rise out of the shimmering turquoise sea like jagged gems.
Until recently, this beach was only viewable from the clifftops, but a spectacular staircase carved directly into the side of the white limestone cliff now allows travelers to descend to the shore. With its glistening white sand, swaying palm trees, and vibrant blue water, it is the definition of a postcard-perfect tropical escape.
Located on the eastern coast of Nusa Penida, right across the ridge from Diamond Beach, Atuh Beach is a secluded white-sand bay tucked between two towering cliffs. Often referred to as "Hidden Beach," it is famous for its breathtaking rock formations, most notably the massive arched rock out in the ocean known as Batu Melawang, which looks like a giant stone gateway in the sea. Unlike its neighbor, Diamond Beach, Atuh is much more suitable for relaxing. The water is calmer during high tide, and the shore is dotted with small local "warungs" (shacks) where you can grab a fresh coconut and a beanbag to soak in the view.
Tree House Molenteng (locally known as Rumah Pohon Molenteng) is one of the most iconic landmarks on the eastern coast of Nusa Penida. Perched on a dramatic cliffside, this rustic wooden cabin offers a panoramic vantage point overlooking the "Thousand Islands" (Pulau Seribu)—a cluster of jagged limestone rock formations rising from the turquoise Indian Ocean.
